Justin Gatlin

Justin Gatlin is an American athlete and a sprinter who has won multiple Olympic medals including a gold medal in the 100 meters race. He has recorded his personal best of 9.77 seconds for the 100 m race. He has also won the World indoor championship twice for the 60 meters race. He has had a pretty good career until he was found positive for a banned drug and had to serve a ban of four years from athletics. The sanction imposed on him resulted in the revoking of the world record he held (9.77 seconds) for the 100 m race.

In August of 2010 he completed his four year ban and started participating in the track and field events again. In the trials for the 2012 Olympics Gatlin completed the hundred meters race in 9.80 seconds making him the fastest sprinter over 30 years of age. In the Olympics, he continued his great run and completed third earning a bronze medal. He completed the race in 9.79 seconds.

Gatlin had also won a gold medal for 100 m race in the 2004 Athens Olympics. In the same event he won a bronze medal for 200 meters race.

His personal performance at the last Olympics (2012) in the 100 meter race resulted in the fastest 100 m race ever run as the three medal winners completed the race in less than 9.80 seconds. This is the record of its own kind and is yet to be broken. Gatlin is now an active sprinter and athlete.
